Carly Mize

Growing up, Carly Mize wanted to either become a teacher or a marine biologist. She found a sweet spot of specializing in science elementary education.

She graduated from App State with a B.S. in elementary education in 2013. She taught in Watauga County Schools for nine years teaching both third and fifth grade. She received her master's degree in science elementary education from North Carolina State University in 2021.

Her research areas focus on elementary science and social studies. She has had the privilege of working with Dr. Groce and Dr. Bradberry on publications for activities they completed in her fifth grade class.

In 2019, she was named the Teacher of the Year for Green Valley School (Watauga County Schools).
