Dr. Laurie A. Ramirez

Dr. Laurie A. Ramirez is an associate professor whose work focuses of teacher education and middle level education. She received her doctorate in 2009 from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she was born and raised. Her emphases were on diversity in education and teaching and learning.

Her research areas focus on self-study of teacher education practices, culturally sustaining practices, middle level education research, and collaborative research. 

Dr. Ramirez has held leadership positions in four professional organizations- at the regional, state, national, and international levels. She began as a council member of MLER and eventually was president at the state level of NCMLE. At the regional and state level, she was part of the conference planning teams. She served as secretary of S-STEP at the international level.

She is a memeber of the National Professors of Middle Level Education, Association for Middle Level Education, and Middle Level Education Research. 

She lives in Boone, has three dogs, and enjoys hiking, baking, and reading.
