Dr. Terry Waldspurger

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Terry Waldspurger has lived in Boone with her husband, George, since 2016. She has taught and worked in the field of education for almost thirty years, predominantly in TESOL.

She received a B.A. in English from Ursinus College (PA) and a M.S. and Ph.D. in applied linguistics from Georgetown University. Her research focuses on culturally sensitive pedagogy, teaching emergent bilinguals, assessment, and animals and ethics.

She is an animal advocate who practices a cruelty-free and plant-based lifestyle. She and her husband live on two acres overlooking Boone and the mountains, where we raise bees, garden, live (almost) off the grid on solar panels, and cultivate a wildlife habitat certified by the National Wildlife Federation. In their free time, we love to travel and most recently have visited the Galapagos, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley in Peru, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa.

Dr. Waldspurger has been fortunate to try many things, including flying small planes, scuba diving, paramedicine and firefighting, and competing internationally on kayak, rowing, and dragon boat teams.
